It's sure that if you have the shopping bug, it's pretty certain that you also like a good bargain. There are very few that won't go out of their way for a discount on everything from a metal bender for their tool collection to a funky new piece of jewelry. Well, you're in luck if you like finding a great deal and are in the Lowell area. There are lots of places in the city where you can bargain shop and still get high quality items. Here are some tips on finding what you're looking for at the best prices.

Newer does not necessarily mean better. Lowell has a wonderful collection of antique and vintage stores where you can find everything from a new outfit to trinkets to decorate a new home. It's true that if you're looking for a wall mounted boiler that you probably want to go with something new, but there are lots of things that only seem to become better with age. Fashion trends come and go and some antique furniture is far more stunning than anything you'll find at the local IKEA.

Sometimes being different is a good thing. We all have our favorite stores in the mall with all of the coolest clothes coming out season after season. But sometimes you can find the best stuff at those little specialty stores tucked away downtown. Take some time to check out that exotic boutique or the clothing shop beside that place that buys scrap gold rings. You may find a better deal on top of getting an item that no one else has. Be thrifty and be original at the same time.

Be creative when decorating to save some major dough. If you're looking to spruce up a room in your house, forgo heading to the local Pier One. Maybe instead you can use that old front license plate bracket in the garage as a picture frame or can turn some milk crates into a funky bookshelf. You may not be one for the junk decorating, but you never know what you might think of when you put your creative hat on.

Check the papers and online. While you don't see moms with the Saturday paper much anymore clipping coupons, there are still lots of deals available online and in the newspaper for those willing to take a look. Whether it's movie tickets or aquarium gravel that you're in the market for, check if the store has a website. They could have coupons or sale dates listed there.
