Are you an Avaya communications manager on vacation in Lowell, Massachusetts with your family and aren't sure what you should do with them? If that's the predicament you currently find yourself in then let us give you one suggestion that you should consider. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum. Don't give up on the idea just yet because you heard the word museum. Sure, visiting a museum might not seem as fun as touring a food media company but it can be fun in its own way.

Taking the family to the Boott Cotton Mills Museum will teach the entire family a thing or two about the Lowell textile industry of the past. At one point in time, the great city of Lowell, used to be America's industrial center, and right smack dab in the middle of the Industrial Revolution were the Boot Cotton Mills! How cool is that? Ask your kids what they'd rather do? Go to a conference on check 21 services or take a walk through the past of Lowell's once proud part of the Industrial Revolution?

Boott Mills closed down in 1955 but before those doors were shut down they were open for over 125 years! Now, thanks in large part to the Lowell National Historical Park and the US Parks Department, Boott Mills has been brought back to life in the form of a museum. Inside the Boott Cotton Mills Museum you'll get a true sense of what used to be known as mill tradition in the form of various exhibits. These exhibits showcase such things as top speed industrial grade looms, glimpses of the original Lowell Mill Girls, and the cotton storehouse. You and your family will be transported back in time while checking out the exhibits that will make you forget all about the high-tech lumber strapping systems we currently have in our lives.

If for some reason you're children don't become fascinated in the history of 19th century textile manufacturing in Lowell then let them peruse the gift shop, eat at the restaurants in the museum and find a way to head on up to the third floor that houses modern condos and lofts that have quite the breathtaking view of Merrimack River's scenic waterfront.

Museums are never really anyone's idea of fun, especially while on vacation, but sometimes going to a museum can actually be fun. You just have to find ways to bring the fun out. Unlike woodworking auctions where there are strict rules to follow, the Boott Cotton Mills Museum allows you to make your own fun while also taking in some educational facts. Don't second-guess yourself and just go. We're sure you and the family will have a great time!
